Accidentally deleted Proloquo2Go

  • 2 minute read
  • June 9, 2025

If you have accidentally deleted Proloquo2Go, it is likely still possible to recover your customizations. If you have set Proloquo2Go to automatically save backups to Dropbox or Google Drive, you can restore one of these. Otherwise, it may still be possible to restore an automatic iCloud backup.

The first step is to redownload Proloquo2Go. You can redownload purchased apps for free. You can find instructions in the Redownload an App section of https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211841

Once Proloquo2Go finishes redownloading, open it and follow the prompts to create a new user. From here, you can try to restore a backup.

Going forward, you can prevent apps from being deleted. For more information, see https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201304

Restore a backup in Dropbox or Google Drive

If you have been backing up to Dropbox or Google Drive, the first step is to give Proloquo2Go access to your account again. There are two ways you can do this:

  • If you want Proloquo2Go to upload backups automatically to Dropbox or Google Drive, tap Options* Options icon in the bottom toolbar. Then, tap Backup. Toggle the desired service(s) to ON. Proloquo2Go will prompt you to choose which account to link.
  • If you want access to stored backups but don’t want to automatically upload them, go to Options > Services. Toggle the desired service(s) to ON. Again, Proloquo2Go will prompt you to choose which account to link.
Restore from Backup showing available backups

You can now choose and restore your backup:

  1. Go to Options Options icon > Backup.
  2. Tap Restore from Backup.
  3. Tap Show Remote Backups to show backups saved outside of the app.
  4. Find the file you want to restore in the list. You may need to scroll down. When you find it, tap Restore on the right side of its row.
  5. Select the option to restore the backup to the current user.
  6. Wait for Proloquo2Go to finish restoring the backup.

Try to restore an automatic iCloud backup

If you have been running Proloquo2Go 5 or higher and the device is connected to the internet, you likely have an automatic iCloud backup saved. Automatic iCloud backup saves the most recent backup from each user on each device linked to your iCloud account.

To look for and restore an automatic iCloud backup:

  1. Go to Options Options icon > Backup.
  2. Tap Restore from Backup.
  3. Tap Show Remote Backups to show backups saved outside of the app.
  4. Find the file you want to restore in the list. You may need to scroll down. When you find the file, tap Restore on the right side of its row.
  5. Select the option to restore the backup to the current user.
  6. Wait for Proloquo2Go to finish restoring the backup.

Restore a backup saved to your computer

If you have been saving backups using iTunes File Sharing or Connect to Computer/WiFi, you can also import and restore these files into Proloquo2Go. Please see the following support articles for instructions:

  • Import and restore a backup using iTunes File Sharing
  • Import and restore a backup with Connect to Computer

*On iPhone and iPod touch, you will find the Options button in the Tools popup at the far left of the bottom toolbar
