Change the message window appearance

  • 1 minute read

The message window shows the message in progress. There are several ways you can customize the message window’s appearance to meet your needs.

To start, tap the Options* Options icon button at the far right of the bottom toolbar. Then, go to Appearance. The Message Window settings are at the top of the list.

Fit more text

As you increase the size of the message window, the height and width of the text scales up with it. This means that the bigger the message window is, the fewer words can fit. Once the message window fills up, you will have to scroll sideways to keep reading.

Making the message window smaller will increase the amount of text you can see at once. In the Message Window Appearance Options, go to Message Window Size. Tap any size to select it. The smaller the size you pick, the more text will fit.

Show only text

AAC users who are literate or learning to read and write may prefer to only show text in the message window. To do this, go to Advanced Options, then Display. Choose Text Only.

Change the font and background color

You can change the text color, font, and message window background color to meet your needs and preferences.

In the Message Window Appearance Options, go to Advanced Options. Go to Background Color to change the color of the whole message window. In Text Options, you can change both the text’s Color and Font.

Hide the message window

You can hide the message window by toggling Show Message to OFF. However, we generally do not recommend doing this. Even if the AAC user is not combining words yet, it can be helpful for words the communication partner has modeled to stay in the message window.
