Import and restore a backup with Connect to Computer

Using Connect to Computer, you can transfer a Proloquo2Go backup file saved on your computer to Proloquo2Go on your device. You can then restore the backup in Proloquo2Go.

1. Start a Connect to Computer session inside Proloquo2Go

  1. Go to Options* Options icon in the bottom toolbar.
  2. Go to Backup.
  3. Select Connect to Computer.

  1. In the top right corner of Options, tap Start.

You will now see an address with a string of numbers. You will need to keep Proloquo2Go open with this address showing until you have saved the backup. If your device goes to sleep partway through, the connection will break and you will need to start over.

2. Open Connect to Computer on your computer

  1. On your computer, open the Safari or Firefox browser. In the address bar, type the address starting with http:// that you see in Proloquo2Go. If you have used Connect to computer before, don’t let your browser auto-complete the address. The last five numbers change every time you start a new Connect to Computer session.
  2. Wait for the web page page to load.

  1. Click Choose File.
  2. Find and select the backup file (ending in .p2gbk) that you want to send to Proloquo2Go. Then, click Send Backup Document to Proloquo2Go.
  3. Once the file transfers, your browser will open a page that says “The backup document or documents were uploaded successfully.”

3. Close the connection and restore your backup

The file is now available to restore in Proloquo2Go.

  1. First, return to Proloquo2Go on your device and end the Connect to Computer session. To do this, tap Stop in the top right corner of Options.
  2. Then, tap < Backup to return to the main Backup Options.
  3. Tap Restore from Backup.
  4. Find the backup you just imported in the list and tap Restore.
  5. Choose which user to restore the backup to: the current user, the user it was originally created in, or a new user.
  6. Wait for Proloquo2Go to finish restoring the backup.

*On iPhone and iPod touch, you will find the Options button in the Tools popup at the far left of the bottom toolbar.
