Type using the keyboard

SimPODD includes an in-app QWERTY keyboard which can be used to type messages. This keyboard is built into the app itself, and is available in PODD 60 page sets. PODD 15 page sets have access to blocks of letters rather than a full keyboard.

PODD 60 page sets

To access the keyboard in a PODD 60 page set:

  1. Tap the Alphabet button. By default, it should be at the bottom right of all pages.
  2. This opens a page with an in-app QWERTY keyboard. This page has built-in Shift and Caps-lock buttons, and links to the Numbers and punctuation pages. The page otherwise functions like a standard on-screen keyboard, and simPODD will read anything typed as full text, not individual letters.

Note that while using the keyboard, the Delete Word button will delete entire individual words. There is a backspace button specifically for deleting individual characters.

PODD 15 page sets

In PODD 15 page sets you can still access the Alphabet page.

  1. On the Main Page, tap Categories, then Turn the Page, then the alphabet folder at the bottom middle of the screen.
  2. In the alphabet folder you can access folders of blocks of letters. To exit these folders tap the Oops button.
  3. When you are done in alphabet, tap the spelling edit and controls button, then tap go back to main page on the right.
