Change how a voice sounds in simPODD

  • 1 minute read
  • June 3, 2023

Sometimes, you might like a voice, but want it to be a little faster or slower or have a slightly different pitch. You can adjust some characteristics of the voice in the Speech and Language Options.

Adjust speech rate and pitch

  1. Go to Options Menu Small in the toolbar.
  2. Go to Speech.
  3. You can change the Speech Rate (speed) or Voice Pitch settings. You will receive immediate feedback on what these changes will sound like.

Change a word's pronunciation

Your simPODD voice might not know how to say every word correctly. Names of people and places can be especially tricky. You can add a pronunciation exception to tell simPODD exactly how to say a word.

  1. Go to Options Menu Small in the toolbar.
  2. Go to Settings > Pronunciations.
  3. Next, tap Add Pronunciation to replace an existing pronunciation.
  4. Enter the Original Text and the Pronunciation.
  5. You can tap the speaker to listen to how it sounds.
  6. Tap Pronunciations.
  7. Tap Done.
