Using Google Drive and Dropbox for Proloquo4Text Backups

  • 2 minute read
  • February 14, 2026

Proloquo4Text makes automatic internal backups daily, but it is important to regularly store backups outside of the device. Google Drive and Dropbox are two options for backup storage.

Enable access to Dropbox or Google Drive

The first step is to make sure Proloquo4Text has access to your Dropbox or Google Drive account.

  1. Go to Settings Proloquo4Text 32Px Icon Options.
  2. Go to Backups.
  3. Toggle Dropbox Integration and/or Google Drive Integration to ON. You will be redirected to Dropbox or Google Drive to confirm.

In Dropbox, you can find backups in the “Apps/Proloquo4Text” folder.

In Google Drive, you can find backups in the “Proloquo4Text” folder.

Make a new backup (optional)

If you have just made changes that you want to save, you should first make a new backup. If you want to export an existing backup, skip over these steps.

  1. Go to Settings Proloquo4Text 32Px Icon Options.
  2. Go to Backups.
  3. Tap either of the Back Up Now options near the top of the Backup section.

Choose and export your backup

  1. Go to Settings Proloquo4Text 32Px Icon Options.
  2. Go to Backups and tap Export Backups.
  3. Find the file you want to export in the list of backup files. You may need to scroll down. When you find the file, tap it.
  4. Select Export to Dropbox or Export to Google Drive
  5. Wait for the progress bar to fill. A “Successfully Exported to Dropbox/Google Drive” message will appear. Tap OK.
Use Google Drive and Dropbox
Backup options.

You can also restore backups from Dropbox and Google Drive.

Import a backup

  1. Go to Settings Proloquo4Text 32Px Icon Options.
  2. Go to Backup.
  3. Tap Import Backups to view backups saved outside the app. Select Dropbox or Google Drive.
  4. Find the file you want to import in the list. You may need to scroll down. If multiple users back up to the same account on Dropbox or Google Drive there may be many options. When you find the right file, tap it to import it.
  5. You will be given the option to immediately restore from the backup, or do so later.

Restore a backup

  1. Go to Settings Proloquo4Text 32Px Icon Options.
  2. Go to Backup.
  3. Tap Restore from Backup.
  4. Choose the backup you would like to restore, then tap Restore ‘[name]’ to confirm.

If you don’t see your backup

If you don’t see your backup in the list, please make sure that Proloquo4Text can access the Dropbox or Google Drive account the backup is saved in. To do this, go to Settings Proloquo4Text 32Px Icon Options and tap Backups. Make sure that Dropbox and/or Google Drive are toggled ON. To change the account linked to Proloquo4Text, toggle the service OFF and then ON again. When you re-enable it, you will be prompted to select an account.
