Proloquo4Text for Apple Watch: now also with Text to Speech!

With the latest watchOS, Apple allows developers to access the Text to Speech on Apple Watch. No need to say that twice! Proloquo4Text on Apple Watch now not only offers the ability to show your message to your communication partner, version 3.1 also allows you to speak the message out loud.

How does it work?
You need an iPhone 5 or later to be able to use Proloquo4Text on Apple Watch. On your iPhone, Proloquo4Text includes a category in the Phrases folder, called “Apple Watch”. This folder contains several pre-programmed example phrases, but just as in any folder in Proloquo4Text you can also create your own phrases and subfolders.

On Apple Watch, your sentences will be shown in a list. When you tap one it will be shown full screen, and spoken out loud. If you want to speak the message again, tap the screen.

In the Apple Watch app on your iPhone you can change voices (if multiple voices are available for one language) or enable/disable the Text to Speech functionality.

Other enhancements:
  • Dropbox compatibility for future iOS releases
  • Bug fix for ordering categories in Quick Blocks
Availability
Version 3.1 is a free update for existing users. New users can purchase Proloquo4Text exclusively on the App Store.

It's showing the sentence upside down on my watch and not speaking the sentence. Can someone help me?

Hi Kelly,
Sorry to hear you are having trouble. The sentence is upside down so you can show your communication partner what you are saying. If you want to change this:

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone
Tap Proloquo4Text
Toggle 'Upside-Down Text' to OFF/white

You need to tap the watch to activate the text to speak feature.
If this doesn't work, go back to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and make sure that
'Voice Output' is toggled ON/green

If this doesn't resolve your issue, please email us at support@assistiveware.com so we can continue to help you troubleshoot.

Kindly,
Pam
