The AssistiveWare Team
AssistiveWare was born in 1996 after Giesbert needed a better on-screen keyboard after he became paralyzed from the neck down due to a car accident. David took on the challenge and a collaboration developed that already spans over 10 years. David did the programming and Giesbert designed the icons and artwork for the software.
Over the years, the range of products has expanded to cover not only physical impairments, but also speech, language and vision impairments. The way of working never changed: David still does the development, Giesbert still does most of the icons and artwork for the software. However, the core team of users providing almost daily feedback has grown considerably, with members being located across the globe in countries such as Australia, France, Netherlands, Canada, United Kingdom, and the USA. The AssistiveWare products are thus truly the result of intensive teamwork with users making a very important contribution to the usability, features and innovation of the products. This gives the AssistiveWare products their cutting-edge.
