How can I purchase multiple licenses of an App?

Apple offers the App Store Volume Purchase Program (VPP) for both educational institutions and for businesses.

Educational institutions in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the US can buy apps in bulk through Apple's Volume Purchase Program for Education. As members of the VPP for Education program, institutions can get special pricing for purchases of 20 apps or more through the VPP store.

The VPP for Education features volume purchase options, managed distribution and special pricing for education.

Non-educational businesses looking to purchase multiple app licenses may consider Apple's Volume Purchase Program for Business, which features volume purchase options and managed distribution.

Everyone else who needs to purchase multiple licenses of an app and wants to be in compliance with the Apple iTunes End User License Agreement (EULA) terms and conditions can do so by:

  • Creating multiple iTunes accounts and purchasing the app once from each account, or
  • Gifting an app* multiple times from a single iTunes account, once for each user, so that they can redeem it in their individual iTunes account.

*Note that you cannot use an iTunes gift card/account balance to "gift" an app as Apple only allows gifting through a credit card.

We always recommend that organizations first consult with the Business Desk at their local Apple Store, an Apple Representative or an Apple Systems Engineer for deployment guidance.
