ISAAC 2012: An Inspiring Event

Nate reports on his experiences at ISAAC, which took place in Pittsburgh, USA from July 30 - August 2. ISAAC is the bi-annual conference of the International Society for Augmentative an Alternative Communication.
This was my first time attending a conference where I was able to interact not only with professionals but also with users and parents. It has made me realize just how much what I am doing is really making a difference in the lives of others.
At the ISAAC conference, we had many users and parents come up to our booth wanting to switch over to an iPad. For example, Max came up to the booth with his daughter Eli and wanted to change from a pathfinder device to an iPad using Proloquo2Go.
We also had many questions about updating to Proloquo2Go 2.0. Maryanne brought her daughter Nicole who uses Proloquo2Go to get a complete demonstration on all the new features.
David and I had a reception at the house of Ted and Audrey Conley from TapSpeak. Also Lenny Greenberg from TapToTalk, Kelly Fonner, RJ Cooper and Simon from Widgit attended the reception. This reception had excellent dialogue and it was great for all of us to get together and socialize.
Joe Barnick, the head of our Support Team showed up fashionably late and Jennifer and I finally were able to meet him face to face. Terrific guy!
We then headed over to the Heinz History Center for the President’s Reception APPealing Views of the Past and Future. There was a fun App scavenger hunt where the attendees could win an iPad.
After the exhibit hall closed, we had a Proloquo2Go users meet-up across the street at August Henry’s City Saloon with Glenda, Lateef, Lisa, and Leo. What a totally rewarding evening!
We concluded with a wonderful team dinner at Nakama, a Japanese hibachi steakhouse on the South Side. Our chef showed off his teppanyaki skills. Thank you, David for this wonderful evening.
