Kia Ora, I'm Mike from New Zealand.  I have moderate (spastic) Cerebral Palsy in all my muscle groups but it's more involved on my left and upper right.. I'm married with two adult children and two young grandsons, the true treasures I've mostly been blessed with.  I grew up in the country on my farther's farm and still have fond memories of the rural lifestyle.  I work as an online Chaplain and support the chronically ill and people with disabilities.  I enjoy photography, art, painting, my organic veggie patch and I love to spend time with my wife and family.  I also compete in Para-Equestrian Dressage and like horse riding, plus I swim most weeks to maintain my disabilities.

Having CP makes it difficult for me to speak properly and be understood by my peers, as my speech is quite difficult to understand..  I was diagnosed with Dysphonea plus Dysphasia at a younger age but lately I'm experiencing some Dysarthria caricaturestics with difficult motor skills.

At present I use AAC; an iPad with proloquo2Go for most of my communication but I also use some basic sign language skills as well.

I've joined this group to widen my communication skills, grow my knowledge and keep up with technology, but I'd like to help and encourage other speech impaired members.

Thanks for this group and I look forward to meeting with other members here - Mike

Hi Mike, It's so nice to "meet" you! I'm sorry to reply so late. We are working on getting this forum up and active and we hope and expect it will be soon!

In the meantime, I see you are already a member of our Facebook Adult Users Private Group! We will be sure to announce when our forum is up and officially running there!
