KeyStrokes and El Cap Volume buttons

I upgraded to a new computer and system software recently. The only problem I am having is the volume buttons on the onscreen keyboard only once each time I turn the computer on. I can press the up or down buttons once and it will not work after the button is pushed.

I have KeyStrokes version 4.1.4

Hi Scott,

Hi Scott,

We can reproduce the issue so there seems to be a bug there. We have to investigate it further to find out what is causing it and if we can fix it in a future update. Do note that I don't expect an update to be released soon.

As a workaround, please create a Text Macro button with LayoutKitchen to turn the volume up and down. You can find exact instructions on how to create a new button for your KeyStokes keyboard in the LayoutKitchen manual (http://download.assistiveware.com/keystrokes/files/LayoutKitchenManualA4...), starting on page 11.

Hope this helps! Please feel free to ask any additional questions at support@assistiveware.com, where there's someone available 24/7.

Best wishes,

Anne

What do I tell it to do? I

What do I tell it to do? I created the buttons but they don't do anything. I tried to use the volume command in the inspector window and nothing at all happened.

Hi Scott,

Hi Scott,

Please follow this instructions to create a keyboard macro button in LayoutKitchen that would be added to your existing KeyStrokes keyboard.

1. Open LayoutKitchen and select your keyboard from the KS panels menu.
2. In the Inspector, select "Text Macro" from the Item Kind popup menu and click "Add Button".
3. In the Appearance area customize the appearance of your key.
4. in the Content area, enter a label for your key, and then select a character from the character menu, and click "Add Key". A set of codes will be inserted in the Text Macro field that designates the pressing and releasing the key.
5. Click in between the "down key" tag and "up key" tag and type the character you want to press in conjunction with the key you just selected. For example, in the screenshot I included, you can see how I set up my "Copy" button that executes the hotkey combo "command-c".
6. Make sure "Allow Auto Repeat" is selected.
7. Go to "File > Save As..." and save your panel.

Please send us an email to support@assistiveware.com if you still run into issues so we can give you further assistance.

Kind regards,

Enrique

Layout Kitchen is not working right in El Capitan. An internal error is caught.
