recorded voice and changing inflection

1. I keep searching but can't find an option to record on a button. I would love for my daughter to be able to sing "Happy Birthday" or other song phrases.

Is there really no option for recording on a button? Seems like most AAC apps have this option.

2. is there any way to change the inflection of sentences? It often seems off from how we would normally say it, especially for questions.

Thank you!

Hello Jeanne,

Hello Jeanne,

At this time, it is not possible to record and playback audio in Proloquo2Go. We agree it is a very cool feature and we are exploring how best to add it to a future version.

The children's voices are recorded live in a sound studio and that's where the Expressive recordings are made. The more recent adult voices have expressive recordings too. Recordings vary per voice. You can download a voice in Proloquo2Go select it and then in edit mode gonto the expressive power popup to see what is available.

Hi Jeanne,

Hi Jeanne,

Please know that only the words that are pre-recorded have emotion. Text to Speech voices generate pronunciation by combining letter sounds. That is why it can pronounce any word you add. However, for a Text to Speech voice, it is impossible to know how you would like a word to sound, and when you want it to sound eg. happy and when "normal". That is why all the expressions and sounds are pre-recorded.

What you can do, is create your own sentences or questions and include the existing inflections. To do this, please:

1. Go to Edit Mode (the pencil)
2. Navigate to the folder you would like to add the sentence to. Note that you can access a folder while you are in Edit Mode by double-tapping it
3. Tap the new button icon (the plus in the grid)
4. Select the little speech bubble with the plus sign in the Text to Speak field
5. Choose a sound or expression you would like to use, eg. "Daddy (calling)"
6. Add the rest of the sentence to the Text to Speak field, eg. "where are you?"
7. Add a label to the Label field, that is the text that will be displayed on the button
8. Tap Done on the top of your screen

Hope this helps!

Anne

Hi Satu,

Hi Satu,

That's strange! Did this happen for one of more stories? To fix this, please:

1. Enter the folder in which the story is located
2. Tap on "Edit" (on the top right of your screen)
3. Select the story for which the voice changed
4. Tap on "Edit"
5. Select "Expert Mode"
6. Select Sanna at "Voice"
7. Tap "Done" on the top left of your screen

Hello Satu,

Hello Satu,
Sorry to hear the instructions were not helpful.

Please check what version of Pictello you are using.

To check your version number in Pictello, tap the Options button (the gears) and scroll down to "About".

Tap About and you will see the version number listed under the product name. If it is a version earlier than 3.1, we recommend that you update the software.

For instructions on updating, please see: How do I update to a new version of Pictello?

Hi Pam, I checked the version

Hi Pam, I checked the version and it was old, so I tried to backup our Pictello books with iTunes and manged to do it...I think...there was only one file even though we have several books we have made with Pictello. Can I be sure that everything is now being backuped? If that is the case I think that I could update the software. I just want to be sure because I have used so much time creating those books. Thank's in advance!
Best regards, Satu (...snd sorry my poor English...)

Hello Satu,

Hello Satu,
Yes, you have saved a backup file of your Pictello library. (all of the stories) Now, when you restore this library, it will overwrite any new stories you have created.

Here are the instructions for backing up and restoring your Pictello library of stories:

Kindly,
Pam
