Proloquotogo memory usage

My daughter has a 16 GB iPad Mini with Proloquotogo as the only App. Increasingly a message is being displayed saying that the storage is almost full. In the past I have simply deleted some of the old back-ups and this has released several GB of memory. Now however, even with no back-ups, the device is 11.7 GB full and 870 MB free. Proloquotogo has used 9.3 GB of this memory.
Can anyone please explain why Proloquotogo has started to use more and more memory and, is there anything that can be done other than upgrade to a 32 GB iPad?
Thank you, Stephen

Hello Stephen,

Hello Stephen,

There was an issue with very large vocabularies where the backup process takes a long time. If Proloquo2Go is quit before the backup finishes, the app will not properly clean up the temporary files resulting in a storage leak.

The good news is we fixed this issue in Proloquo2Go version 4.3 Please follow the instructions at this link:

Kindly,
Pam

Dear Pam

I did just do the update. This has resulted in there being even less space available.

Is there more I should do to fix the storage leak?

Best regards, Stephen

Dear Stephen,

Dear Stephen,

Sorry to hear that updating did not resolve the issue.
The first step to updating is to save a backup file of the user vocabulary to your computer or dropbox.

So that we can troubleshoot further, could you please send us your backup file and log files? Please know we hold all vocabulary in strict confidence and only review them for their technical aspects.

You can submit the backup file to our Dropbox folder.

To send the log files:
1. Open Proloquo2Go and then open the Options view by tapping the gears.
2. Tap Support then scroll down and tap 'Email Log File to Support.'
3. Tap Send.

We will figure this out.

Kindly,

Pam

Dear Pam

Thank you. I am trying to do this but now have a problem switching on access to the settings (gear icon). In the previous version of Proloquotogo I was able to switch this on and off within the iPad settings. Now I'm in version 4.3 I seem to have lost that facility. I can see that the gear icon does appear when doing certain editing of cells but I can't see how to switch it on to access the working of the program. Please advise.

Hello Stephen,

Hello Stephen,

Please force the Settings app to close in multitasking and reset your device.

To exit Settings using Multitasking, please follow the directions below:

If you are currently in Settings, please press your device's Home button once to exit Proloquo2Go.
Quickly press your device's Home button 2 times to bring up multitasking.
If necessary, locate Settings in your running apps by swiping to the left.
Tap and hold on the preview window above the Settings icon and drag it to the top of the screen to remove the app from multitasking.
Press your device's Home button again to close multitasking.
To reset your device, do the following:

1. Press and hold your device's Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds until the Apple logo appears and then release them.

Then open the Settings app, select Proloquo2Go and see if the Show Options button is visible.

Please do let me know if this helps.

Kindly,
Pam

Dear Pam

Dear Pam

Thank you, re-setting the device has worked. The Proloquotogo settings option has been restored. I have now followed your earlier instructions and sent the log file. There was no e-mail account associated with Molly's device so I added one of mine. The log file will come from hopingforpeaceandquiet@outlook.com.

Thank you for your assistance so far.

Best regards, Stephen
