Apple Expo 2007, 25 - 29 September, 2007, Paris, France

AssistiveWare will demo its assisitive technology products in the ordiTICE booth ED007-008 of the Education Solutions Centre of the Apple Expo (Paris, 25 - 29 September).

On Wednesday, a 2 to 3 hours special session on Assistive Technologies for Mac OS X is scheduled in Apple Expo's main conference room from 14:00 to 17:00. Organized by ceRHTic on behalf of Apple, the session will include presentations by Mr Biard (hospital Raymond Poincaré) on how to access a computer, by Mr Danigo (APF) on why and how to use a computer for communication, by Mr Ortie (AFM) on what a person with a disability can produce with a computer, by Mr Niemeijer (AssistiveWare) on Mac software solutions for people with disabilities.

During the other days, daily presentations on assitive technology will take place in the School Performance Area of the Education Solutions Center: Tuesday 14:00 - 14:45, Thursday 12:00 - 13:00, Friday 17:00 - 17:45, and Saturday 13:00 - 13:45. Pre-conference session: A full day training packed with information and fun: "The motivating factor: Creating multimedia on the Mac without mouse and keyboard". One of the driving factors in achieving success when it comes to assistive technology is motivation. This is equally true for children and adults. Without sufficient motivation of the user, computer equipment will be under utilized in the best case or gathering dust in the worst case. In this workshop we will explore how users with serious physical impairments, who cannot typically use a regular keyboard and mouse, can access their computer and create their own multimedia productions using the standard software programs included with Mac OS X.
The session will be presented by David Niemeijer (CTO AssistiveWare), Scott Marfilius (Assistive/Educational Consultant) and Kelly Fonner (Assistive/Educational Consultant). Scheduled for Monday 19 March, Hilton - Century C/D Mac Lab.

Apple Expo Europe 2004, Paris, France

AssistiveWare will show a number of upcoming assisitive technology product releases in the Education Solutions Centre of the Apple Expo (Paris, 31 August - 4 September). New versions will be shown of KeyStrokes® on-screen keyboard, SwitchXS ® switch access solution and a completely new, multilingual speech product called Proloquo®. KeyStrokes 3.2, SwitchXS 1.6 and Proloquo 1.0 are expected to be released in October.

You are also invited to our two sessions in the Education Solutions Classroom: On Wednesday, September 1 (17:00-17:45) and Thursday, September 2 (17:00-17:45).

Apple Expo Europe 2003 events and activities

Niemeijer Consult will participate in the special events for the European Year of People with Disabilities that Apple has organized for this year's Apple Expo Europe (Paris, 16-20 September).

Session: On Wednesday, September 17 (15:00-16:00, European Room, Hall 4) there will be a special session "Accessibility and information society" in which Expo visitors will be able to see how technology can provide people with mental or physical impairments access to information and resources any other citizen has access to. This session will include demos of our KeyStrokes® on-screen keyboard and our SwitchXS® switch-access solutions for Mac OS X. Simultaneous translation into French and English will be available for the session.

You are also invited to our two sessions in the Education Solutions theater: On Tuesday, September 16 (17:30-18:00) and Saturday, September 20 (16:45-17:15).

Stand: Niemeijer Consult will be located at the special Accessibility section of the Education Solutions Center. Here you can be one of the first to try-out forthcoming SwitchXS 1.1, which will add support for multiple-switches (and will be the first of a number of free updates). Together with Elan Speech we will also be showing a technology demo of our KeyStrokes 3 on-screen keyboard using Elan's Text-to-Speech for a number of European languages. What is more, you will be able to discuss your needs and share your thoughts with David Niemeijer, the main developer of KeyStrokes and SwitchXS.

iChat: Assistive Technology is all about allowing people with disabilities to communicate and be part of society. Niemeijer Consult will be making use of Apple's most recent technological innovations, namely iChat AV and iSight, to allow Expo visitors to have live chats with KeyStrokes and SwitchXS users from around the globe and learn from their experiences. At the same time, those people unable to come to the Apple Expo can join us for live chats with the main developer of KeyStrokes and SwitchXS. This is the occasion to share thoughts, experiences and make your needs known!
