iMaingo 2 speaker case. In addition to providing a speaker it protects your device. It even has a plastic screen protection. For some people this is just what they need, others cut out the pastic screen because it makes touches on the screen more responsive. |

Livespeakr is another speaker that some of our users find useful. It is based on a dual speaker fold-out concept. |

| X-mini is a small, but relatively powerful speaker that can be attached to a lanyard and warn around the neck. The speakers are rechargable through USB. The same company also makes the X-mini II, which is supposed to offer even more volume an have a longer battery life, but is also heavier. Probably not a good idea for kids to wear around their neck because of the higher weight. |

The iAdapter is a very nice speaker case from AMDi. Durable case, pretty loud built-in speakers (two volume levels) with rechargeable battery through USB (power adapter included), home button can be hidden behind a plastic slider, headphone jack, and a carrying strap. A mounting plate is available as an option. To use this case (currently only compatible with the first generation iPad) you unscrew the back, place the iPad, connect it to the speaker, replace the back and tighten the screws again. While in the case, you can still put the iPad to sleep (or turn it off) with a little, slightly recessed button on the side. The dock connecter also remains accessible. While the current version is only for the iPad 1 a new iPad 2 compatible version is expected in July 2011. |

OtterBox provides a whole series of protective cases for the iPod, iPhone and iPad. Pictured here is their most heavy duty case, the OtterBox Defendor for iPad. The Defender uses a combination of silicon skin and hard plastic. Additionally, it includes a hard plastic clip-on shield that can be clipped on the rear or front, in which case it can protect the screen during transport. OtterBox also has a slightly lighter-weight Commuter model that is based on the same principle (combination of hard plastic and silicon skin) but offers less protection and no clip-on shield. Both cases are hard to put on the device, but once on are among the most protective cases available. A Self-adhering clear protective film screen cover is included with both models. All ports are protected but accessible. The Defender provides added protection against bump, shock, drop and dust intrusion. NOT against water. The Defender case is available for iPad (1&2), iPhone and iPod touch. |
